WHY WE EXIST
Enterprise identity has never been one system.
Identity programs cross HR systems, directories, cloud platforms, ERP, service management, security tools, custom applications, regional boundaries, and thousands of business decisions. No single vendor owns every entry point, source of context, or system where work gets done.
EmpowerID was founded to make that complexity governable—not to pretend it could be erased. We connect identity data, policy, orchestration, fulfillment, and evidence while allowing enterprises to keep the experiences and systems that already work for them.
AI agents introduce a new class of actor, but the enterprise requirement is familiar: establish identity, assign accountability, bound authority, protect credentials, control consequential actions, and preserve proof. Our work in agent governance is an extension of our identity architecture, not a departure from it.
The Identity Fabric participates in the enterprise architecture. It does not demand ownership of every screen.

Chapter 1
Govern identity through its lifecycle
EmpowerID began by solving difficult enterprise identity problems: lifecycle automation, access requests and approvals, role and policy management, separation of duties, fulfillment across heterogeneous systems, and durable audit evidence.

Chapter 2
Make identity services composable
As enterprises became more distributed, we exposed identity graph, authorization, orchestration, connectors, credential services, and evidence as reusable capabilities. This became the foundation of the EmpowerID Identity Fabric.

Govern a new class of actor
AI agents can choose tools and propose actions at machine speed. EmpowerID extends the same foundation to agent discovery, accountable ownership, delegated authority, exact-action authorization, governed execution, and attributable evidence on supported paths.
The Identity Fabric is not a new label placed over an old suite. It is the architectural result of work that identity programs have required for more than two decades.

OUR PRINCIPLES
The architecture follows a few non-negotiable ideas.
These principles shape what we build, how we integrate, and where we draw the boundaries of our claims.

Any front door
Customers should be able to initiate governed work through the systems and experiences they already use—from enterprise applications and service-management tools to custom interfaces, MCP clients, and AI agents.

Open standards at every boundary
We implement established and emerging identity standards where they create interoperable boundaries. We label maturity honestly and adapt as specifications evolve.

Keep identity, authority, and effect distinct
Knowing who or what is acting is not the same as deciding what it may do. A decision is not the same as a completed effect. The architecture should preserve those distinctions.

Keep credentials outside the actor’s custody
On governed execution paths, agents and users should not need to possess the destination credential required to perform an approved action.

Prove the chain
Where verification is supported, evidence should connect the actor and authority to the decision, dispatch, target contact, and observed outcome.
